Drug Addiction - A major problem

              'Drug addiction' refers to the habit of taking the substance in a high dose without the prescription of doctors that affects the nervous system very badly. Some of the drugs are cocaine, heroine, opium brown sugar, hashish, etc. The people who are drug addicts have them regularly in high dose. Nowadays, especially the young boys in towns are victim of the drug addiction. It is seen that they are badly intoxicated in drugs.

             Nowadays drug addiction is a major and extremely serious social problem. This problem is rapidly increasing day by day especially in urban regions. Mostly the teenagers have been victimized by this problem. The boys of high schools and higher secondary schools are found to have been addicts of drugs. It is seen that the percentage of the school girls who have been intoxicated in drugs is very low. That's why this is the major social problem among the boys who are in their teenage.

              There are some causes behind drug addiction. The children seem to be imitating and copying the adults behaviour. When the adults smoke, the children are attracted by the way they play with the cigarettes and the way they blow smokes. As a consequence, the adolescents start smoking. And smoking leads them to drug addiction. Some of the boys start taking drugs imitating the habit of their friends and peer pressure. Some people start taking drugs because of being pessimistic; they think that they is no hope left and their future is no more bright like shining star. The people who are fed up with their life do not want to live for a long time. They want to enjoy the life taking drugs for a few days as the drugs make them go as if they are in heaven. Some of the smugglers of drugs, at first provide the youths with drugs free of cost. Their aim is to make the youths habitual or intoxicated in taking drugs. When the youths become drug addicts, they go to the smugglers to buy the drugs. Similarly, SHADHUS also take some drugs. Some youths go to these SHADHUS and learn to take drugs from them.

             There are certainly many adverse effects of drugs on the individuals and the society as well. The drug addicts are most affected. The regular use of the drugs makes the addicts mentally dull. They gradually become weaker and weaker day by day. It also produces complete instability, irritation, fatigue and infertility. Some of them can definitely be victimized with fatal diseases like HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B. Drugs are very expensive. The drug addicts are led to criminal activities. It has also been seen that the druggists are even ready to kill others for money to buy drugs. They steal things of others. The drug addicts undoubtedly become criminals in the society. If they are not fed with drugs on time, they may even commit suicide  in their extreme stage of drug addiction.

             Drug addiction: the major and growing social problem can be reduced or solved in many ways. Firstly, the people should be taught the adverse effects of drugs. The Youths should be cared properly. The drug addicts should be cured. The programmes of rehabilitation and reformation have to be started and implemented. The teenagers should be involved in creative activities such as painting, drawing, dancing, singing, travelling, visiting new places. Youths should be involved in gaming competitions  such as football tournament, Chess Competition, Basketball Tournament, Cricket Tournament. 

            In conclusion, drug addiction is certainly a serious social problem. All the sectors concerned with these problems should be responsible to solve it. The drug  seller should be strictly punished.  Each of the parents should look after their children properly. Similarly, schools and colleges can play a vital role to solve this problem by providing awareness about its adverse effects and how it destroys our bright future.
