The high mountains in our country Nepal are covered with snow, but the lower parts of such high mountains are covered with small green grasses and plants. Many people live in mountains. Most of the fertile lands are cultivated. The mountains are not densely populated. Life of the people is difficult there. Most of the people are engaged in farming. Higher mountains are also used to graze the cattles such as yaks, goats, cows, and sheep. The snow-capped mountain peaks always attract many tourists all the time. They seem to be really very attractive, beautiful, alluring, but the fact is that they are getting polluted rapidly nowadays as the tourists visiting mountains are increasing day by day. In fact, the main attractions of tourism in Nepal are these lofty and magnificent mountains.
These alluring and beautiful mountains in Nepal are undoubtedly extremely important. As a fact of matter, our tourism trade depends on those lofty mountains. Innumerable tourists visit Nepal to watch the mountains every year. Some of the tourists come to Nepal to climb the snowy mountains; especially those tourists climb Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world. As we know that a lot of rare herbs are found in the Himalayan regions of Nepal. We can use such innumerable herbs directly as the medicine or they can be used to make life saving medicines. If we sell them to foreign countries, we can definitely earn foreign currency. The snow-capped mountains are obviously the origins of the rivers in Nepal. Therefore, mountains are the permanent sources of water. Although the climate is cold there but the environment is completely fresh and healthy in the mountains.
Unfortunately, we can also have some disadvantages from mountains. They can also said to be the hindrances to the development of the country. Because of the freezing cold in the mountains, the fertility of the land is not rich. We can see that the farmers are under the poverty line. As we all know that roads are the basic requirements of any other development activities. But, road making in mountain regions is very slow and too expensive also. The life style of the people in the mountain region is very difficult because of the extreme cold. Many natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides, over flood and soil erosion affect the people badly. One of the most faced problem in the mountain is lack of good transportation.
Nowadays, we can see that the life style of the people in the mountain region is getting uplifted because the problem of transportation and communication has been reduced. We can also see that the most of the people have started growing vegetables and fruits which are more advantageous than traditional farming. It can be concluded that if the mountain regions are appropriately developed, the status of the country as well as the status of the individual undoubtedly gets uplifted.
