Misuse of Mobile Phones
As we all know that cellphones or mobilephones are the easiest means ef interpersonal communication. They are extensively used all over the world. They can be used and misused for various purposes. In fact, these new scientific discoveries have made a revolution in the field of communication.
Despite proper uses, cellphones are found to be misused in programmes, in classes, in exams, while driving a vehicle and in a crowd as well. Cellphones are misused in some programmes such as seminars, workshops, trainings, meetings, etc. We have seen that some people receive their phone calls while the programme is going on. On the one hand, their talk on the phone certainly disturbs others who are in the programme. On the other hand, the people who are talking on the cellphones are considered to be ignoring the programme or insulting other participants in the programme.
Similarly, if cellphones are used by the teachers and students in the classes of the academic institutions, the teaching and learning activities are without any doubt badly disturbed. Likewise, examinees are prone to use the cellphones in the exams mostly in two ways. Firstly, they can use cellphone sets to record some points which they use to write the answers. Secondly, they try to contact someone to tell the answers to some questions staying in the baths.
Another misuse of the cellphone is to contact someone to receive the calls while driving vehicles; it is the worst and most dangerous misuse of cellphones. It may lead the vehicle to cause accident. While talking with someone on the cellphone, the driver of the vehicle cannot pay attention to his driving and he is likely to meet with an accident. Similarly, talking on the cellphone with someone in a crowd is another misuse of it. It shows that the person talking on the cellphone is ignoring the people around him thinking that they are not suitable for him to talk.
We have heard that cellphones are also misused in criminal activities. For example, robbers, kidnappers, traffickers, etc. use the cellphones to call someone from the unknown place. Kidnappers use the cellphone of the person, who has been kidnapped to put their demands to the relative of the victim. It is very difficult for the police to find such type of kidnappers on the basis of the phone calls. Likewise, human traffickers contact the likely victim pretending that they were the latters relative from the place unknown. When the victim goes to the spot hoping to meet the relatives, he is immediately hijacked and taken to a secret place from where the victim is sold. In addition to these aspects of cellphone misuse, there are others, too.
It is sure that cellphones are made to be a convenience to use, not anything else that may be harmful. If we use cellphones properly, we can have many advantages.
